Design with Nature in mind

Hi from Permacultureanna

I’m Anna — permaculture teacher, author of The Forager’s Garden, and grower at Small Meadow Farm in Fairlight, East Sussex.
I help people design abundant, resilient lives through permaculture principles you can live, not just learn.

Why permaculture design?

Discovering a Simpler, More Connected Way to Live

Permaculture helps us slow down and find a simpler life that’s more in tune with Nature. It’s about growing gardens that feed us in many ways — places where we can forage, make useful things, and share space with other species, all while bringing health back to the soil.

I love helping people learn how to design their own spaces — whether that’s a garden, an allotment, or a bigger land project.

Wherever you’re starting from, permaculture can offer just the tools and inspiration you need to shape your space into something truly alive and rewarding.

And permaculture is not just about how we grow things - its literally about everything!

Hi there,

My journey as a gardener began over twenty years ago, when I trained in horticulture with the RHS. Since 2011, I’ve been practising permaculture design, and in 2016 I completed my diploma to become a qualified permaculture teacher.

These days, I also focus on people-centred permaculture — design and facilitation that put human connection and real-life experience at the heart of it all. Everything I teach comes from hands-on practice and a deep immersion in this way of thinking and living.

What I love most is helping people bring their ideas to life — getting projects off the ground, growing with confidence, and finding ways to live more sustainably and joyfully.
